i heard you asking for pics
and today i finally took some.
*
now, you should know
that before patterns
are ‘approved’
at my house
‘quality control’
and i am not
referring to
my own perfectionism here,
although i could be.
*
pass by the
‘smell check’,
followed by
vigorous
overall
strength testing,
and a rating on the ‘kissable’ scale.
now that this little guy,
(yarn courtesy of taddiebeeknitting),
has scampered through all the ‘required’ hoops,
i am pleased to introduce him,
or is it her,
to you.
so,
which
one of you
is going to name
this tiny creature
(and it’s pattern)?
shall we all have a little contest?
my friend cc thought that might be fun.
anybody wanna give it a try?

Purlie is my mousey name,
From gentle hands I now became
A little creature made of yarn.
I live at home and not the barn.
I’ll keep you company, tickle your toes;
Soften hearts of those you know.
Please hold me close and I will be
Your rolly polly friend, “Purlie”.
Could I be a Bobolink?
A catchy name, don’t you think?
I’m knit and purled without a tink;
Those bobble eyes, I’m tickled pink.
I love to cheese around and play.
I’m small and stout, but that’s okay.
I fit in hands, so carry me away.
Put me in your pocket to play another day.
How about sheepish mouse????
I’m “Wannabe”, your special friend;
A mouse with whom you can depend
On giving you much love and hugs.
I’ll share with you my cheese and bugs.
I’m soft and knit with special care,
In hopes you’ll cuddle me like a bear.
I’ll aways be close, so you will see,
How much a friend, I “Wannabe”.
“My Little Mouse”
“My Mouse Friend”
“The Best Mouse in the House”
“Brodie”
“Catnip Optional”
“My Pocket Pal”
🙂
I vote for “Moses.” He was the small instrument that set a nation free, and Aesop speaks of the value of even the smallest friend in the tale below.
The Lion and the Mouse
Once when a Lion was asleep a little Mouse began running up and down upon him; this soon wakened the Lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and opened his big jaws to swallow him. “Pardon, O King,” cried the little mouse: “forgive me this time, I shall never forget it: who knows but what I may be able to do you a turn some of these days?” The Lion was so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him, that he lifted up his paw and let him go. Some time after the Lion was caught in a trap, and the hunters who desired to carry him alive to the King, tied him to a tree while they went in search of a wagon to carry him on. Just then the little Mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad plight in which the Lion was, went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of the Beasts. “Was I not right?” said the little Mouse.
~ Little friends may prove great friends.

How about this for the mouse : Benito Mousellini
Mrs. Frisby! (From Mrs. Frisby and the Rat of NIMH).
No….probably copyright would get in the way. I do like the Moses idea though. (My brain is stuck on Mrs. Frisby, because that’s what I named my own and only pet mouse.)
Cute poems submitted by Roxanne!
“Babe Le Rue” and call her/him “Babe” for short
“The best laid plans of mice and men are usually about equal”
I actually had a rat as a pet, and the runner up name for him was “Askim”…
My friend suggested the name, when I asked why, her reply was “What’s the rat’s name” …dramatic pause… “Askim” (get it, Ask him)
It was completely silly, and I plan to give my next pet rat that name, because I love it, so I thought I would share it. I think it would work well for a mouse too ?
I’m little “Tinker”.
I’m made from Knit and Purl.
Sometimes I’m a stinker
But mousely a good girl.
Take me to a cheesy place
And I will dance and spin.
As I’m nibbling, on my face,
You’ll see a great big grin.
I yearn to be a real live mouse;
But only can I be
A little ball of blended yarns
That make up all of me.
I guess I need a special name;
Pinocchio wouldn’t do.
So, hopefully, you’ll pick for me
A name like “Mousearoo”
A name for the mouse:
Kissy Mousie!!
When I was little, I had a mouse
big and fluffy and white
I would cuddle it when I was sad
And it kept away monsters at night.
That mouse was called the Monster Mouse
because it was quite a sight
It was always friendly and nice to me
but it gave the monsters a fright!
I still have that mouse, thirty years on
And it still keeps the monsters at bay
I hope your little mouse will do the same
for your kids, and others, some day.
As for the question, I think this one’s name
should have a sweet and gentle ring.
It will still drive the monsters away
but they won’t suspect a thing.
Billy the Mouse, or Wee Nibbly Tim,
or Snuffle or Tommy the Nose…
Penny Fluffikins or just Miss Penny for short
or maybe Miss Melanie Mouse?
Whatever its name, it looks very soft
and cuddly and friendly and sweet.
Give it lots of hugs, and kisses and love
and the occasional treat.
This is awesome !! Finally found the correct info…
I like my names a little cheesy….
How about:
Colby
Jack
Victor (after Victor et Berthold, a Quebec cheese)
Queso
Maggie (after the italian word formaggio)
Kaas (cheese in dutch) or Cass
Macaroni (and cheese? I’m bad at this!)
Zim (After EZ)
Good luck! Its adorable 🙂
Roquefort
(it’s a blue french cheese, very frenc 🙂 )
Lili the Mousie
your mouse is so cute !
petite souris = little mouse in french 🙂
Micro
Cute, little, smart = )
Hope to hear the winner soon!!
‘name for the mouse’
With what looks like the beginnings of cables I’m thinking Irish/Scottish like “Finn” or “Doyle”? Or totally cheesy like “Cheddar”. 🙂
how about BOBBLE
Feivel was the little Mouse in An American Tail that stole the hearts of viewers all those years ago…
Skeeter?
“Serena” would be a lovely name because she would calm & mesmerize each child who held her.
‘bschlot’ on ravelry
Geppetto is one of my submisssions.
Squeekers is the other.
I can see my granchildren scrambling for and snuggling with their Squeekers!
