beside susan’s desk
as creative director,
her space fills quickly
with color cards,
various mood boards,
swatches
and nearly endless
ย fresh design possibilities.
to begin something new,
one morning just over a week ago
this lemony vintage chair was filled with, well, me.
we talked of ideas and angles, palettes and themes, and of course, yarns.
by the time i had to drag myself away to get the kids off the bus,
we had finalized everything down to the color choices
(ie: all the colors warming the chair above)
for an indie collection of my new ideas
that cey and i are collaborating on.
i admit,
that as the stack of colors grew,
i began to feel a bit giddy with the excitement of it all.
to be given such freedom of choice and professional support
was moving to the creative side of me in a way that i find hard to describe.
what i can say clearly, is that the practical side of me went
right home and eagerly cast on for the first sweater.
‘clearly’ taken from 6:42 in luke.
(this is to be an ongoing series of posts
chronicling the process of this collaboration from swatches to release.
to search, all post titles will include ‘cey & i:‘ and be tagged with ‘artistic differences‘.)
That’s a gorgeous palette. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
The Bible verses you post are always so interesting. Thank you.
thank you. i was glad that i had a strong idea of what colors i wanted before i arrived in susan’s office because once i say the yarns face to face i wanted to knit with almost every one!
things i love: God, family & friends, knitting, music, long walks, disco balls…i try to include them all in the blog because they all had something to do with me being me.
Beautiful yarn! I check here every day for news, as you know, so I’ll be watching to see what it becomes. ๐
p.s. I began my rivi mitts today! They will be blue. ๐ I love twisted ribbing.
yeah for rivi mitts! i had mine on again this morning over gloves and then this afternoon (which warmed up a bit) on their own. what yarn are you using? i love them so much that i tend to do too much in them, so i intentionally steered clear of all but the pale blue green in the bottom row of the picture.
all the cey yarns were great! i wanted to add more and more pieced to the collection so i could knit with them all. at this point i’m feeling a little spoiled to have so many good choices, but very, very happy.
I’m using Patons Classic Wool for mine, in a medium denim colour which goes with almost everything I own. ๐ I love blue! I’m just ready to do the gusset on the first one. It’s a great pattern and I love the look of them in the photos. They will be warm!!
