the thing about a wrap sweater
is that once it’s knit (and blocked and seamed)
you need to have a closure of some kind
in order to wear it.
in a ‘best case scenario’,
the closure needs to be removable
and fairly small so as to not get in the way.
see the little dark shawl stick on my right hip in the photo?
as i was finishing this sweater,
i went through the little basket of shawl pins in my bureau
(second drawer down since the socks live in the top drawer)
but, none of the shawl sticks were short enough
to not be cumbersome when worn at the waistline.
how to overcome the problem
was on my mind for days as i went about the normal routine
of vacuuming and dusting and emptying the dishwasher.
when a lone chopstick in the dishwasher’s silverware basket
caught my attention.
my husband came home that night and…
i should let him tell the story,
which he does over here on instructables
along with his step by step tutorial of how to make your own.
it wouldn’t surprise me in the least to hear he’d fixed a car engine with a wad of gum.
some guys are just that talented.
mine sure is.
