and around again

i just finished my second riles hat.

this one is in the color of february love.  ahhh.february 'riles' collagecolor is so powerful, makes this feel like a different hat altogether.

thanks to phydeaux designs, for a limited time,

if you buy a set of their minis

in the ‘neutrals’ colorway,

or one of the three new ‘wizard of oz’ mystery colorways

you’ll get a free copy of my little striped hat pattern as well.

call it a belated Christmas gift, or a jump start

on knitting in the new year.

whatever you call it,

enjoy!

in the mix

i got all excited when i heard

that phydeaux designs had begun making mini skein sets

(i used the merino/cashmere blend ‘caresse’).

oh, the possibilities with 80 yards each of those different colors.

on tuesday, i’ll release a new pattern using the  minis,

but until then,

here’s a little sneak peek of the wip before it was done.IMG_7939framei’m itching now to play with some more

ideas that cropped up in the knitting of this first one.

between now and tuesday,

be sure to stop back tomorrow for

a giveaway that would make a great gift,

or be just what you need to make a great gift.

more info coming in the morning…

cey & i: a question of shaping

fit counts.

the catch for me

is that it counts differently to different people.

everyone seems to have their own opinion of something fitting ‘right’.

and it changes for any individual depending

if you’re talking about a sweater,

fingerless gloves,

or socks.

IMG_3893brighturbanso, when i design i make a judgement call.

sometimes i pick shaping to fit something the way i’d like to wear it,

sometimes i shape something a way i’ve not seen many other patterns done,

sometimes i’m just challenging myself to see

if i can make something fit

in a different way.

and any way you look at it, there’s math to be done (and checked and rechecked)

to be sure that i hit the mark on

whatever fit i aimed for.

so back to it.
